Founding of PORT TECH
1988
PORT TECH was founded in 1988 by Johan De Vylder as a company specialized in curative and preventative maintenance for overhead cranes and portal cranes, as well as the engineering and manufacturing of tailor made lifting devices.
|
Founding of CRANE REPAIR
1999
In 1999 the branch of maintenance and service became such a global partner that a new company was founded to accommodate this increasing demand: CRANE REPAIR. During the following years CRANE REPAIR also started to manufacture more and more lifting equipment so the parent company PORT TECH assumed a more supporting role.
|
Partnership with FEMONT
2010
In 2010 a partnership was established between CRANE REPAIR and FEMONT. FEMONT was a family company created in 1929 to design and manufacture lifting installations. The name became a well-established international brand in all industry sectors (steel, ferrous and non-ferrous metal, household waste treatment, nuclear and port). With this collaboration it became possible to integrate the exclusive maintenance and spare parts of FEMONT installations.
|
Merger FEMONT with CRANE REPAIR
2014
In 2014 all assets and activities of FEMONT were fully integrated into CRANE REPAIR, including a large number of technicians and engineers. This gave CRANE REPAIR the opportunity to continue the in-house engineering and manufacturing of automated tailor made cranes for very specific industrial process environments under the FEMONT brand name while strengthening its original core activities.
|
New shareholder in CRANE REPAIR
2016
In December 2015, a new shareholder and CEO came on board in CRANE REPAIR after the FEMONT representative passed away. It became evident that he had a radically different vision on the future and mission of the company and its core values. This led to irreconcilable disagreements and an impasse in the day-to-day operations.
|
Integration CRANE REPAIR into PORT TECH
2022
In May 2022 PORT TECH succeeded in reacquiring all assets and activities of CRANE REPAIR, including the entire team, intellectual properties and brand names. This unification in PORT TECH provides a renewed flexibility and operational capability to grow and remain a reliable partner for the maintenance of overhead cranes and portal cranes, and the engineering and manufacturing of custom made lifting devices and cranes.
